Dear Maine Turnpike Customer,<br />
In recent months, the Turnpike has received intense public<br />
scrutiny resulting in management changes and a number<br />
of reforms – some enacted by the Maine Legislature and<br />
others imposed from within. Maine government auditors have concluded the<br />
organization is fundamentally sound and well managed. Moody’s, the New York<br />
bond rating agency, recently agreed the law changes and other transparency<br />
reforms were positive for the Turnpike’s bond rating.<br />
Due to its long history and strong bond rating, the Maine Turnpike Authority<br />
is able to borrow money at highly favorable rates, attract capital into Maine<br />
for necessary projects and pay for them at toll rates that are among the lowest<br />
