Eight years ago, Athletics Director Craig Littlepage articulated his vision for<br />
“Uncompromised Excellence” across Virginia's 25 sports. The spring of 2010 saw that<br />
vision come to fruition when four teams earned a No. 1 national ranking.<br />
During one stretch, men's tennis, men's lacrosse and baseball were simultaneously the<br />
top-ranked teams in the country. Rowing added the fourth top ranking and fifth overall<br />
for 2009-10. Men's soccer ended their season in the fall ranked No. 1.<br />
“We have had several years where we've had one or two teams that were ranked<br />
number one in the country. To see that four of our teams this spring achieved the<br />
ranking of number one certainly has provided a level of attention to our program. That<br />
has been an affirmation of not only the hard work that the coaches and student-athletes<br />
have put in, but also the loyalty and generosity of the fans that have supported the<br />
